Overview
This mini-course presents ways to facilitate positive youth development in out-of-school time (OST) programs. You’ll learn how to help students develop essential traits such as self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. These skills contribute to a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
define positive youth development and its importance in OST programs;
identify strategies to help students grow in key social and emotional skills;
understand how positive youth development can enhance student attendance, engagement, and retention while reducing unwanted behaviors.
